Fríos Australes
Fríos Australes reúne una serie de fotografías analógicas en blanco y negro realizadas a partir de mi primer encuentro con los glaciares. Las imágenes recorren un paisaje marcado por la inmensidad, el silencio y una temporalidad que parece exceder toda escala humana.
La elección del blanco y negro acentúa la materialidad del hielo, las texturas del paisaje y la intensidad de la luz austral, alejando las imágenes de una descripción literal para acercarlas a una experiencia más contemplativa. Frente a la monumentalidad de los glaciares, aparece inevitablemente la conciencia de nuestra propia pequeñez y de la fragilidad de estos territorios.
Más que registrar un paisaje, el libro propone una aproximación sensible a un entorno en permanente transformación, donde belleza y vulnerabilidad conviven. En un contexto de crisis climática y retroceso de los glaciares, las fotografías funcionan también como una invitación a reflexionar sobre la necesidad de preservar estos ecosistemas esenciales.
Fríos Australes
Fríos Australes brings together a series of black-and-white analog photographs created from my first encounter with glaciers. The images explore a landscape shaped by immensity, silence, and a sense of time that seems to exceed any human scale.
The use of black and white emphasizes the materiality of the ice, the textures of the landscape, and the intensity of the southern light, moving the images away from literal description and toward a more contemplative experience. Faced with the monumental presence of the glaciers, an awareness of our own smallness and of the fragility of these territories inevitably emerges.
Rather than simply documenting a landscape, the book proposes a sensitive approach to an environment in constant transformation, where beauty and vulnerability coexist. In the context of climate change and glacier retreat, the photographs also become an invitation to reflect on the need to preserve these essential ecosystems.
